Highgate Early Learning Centre strives to be an extension of family that creates and nurtures a connected community of parents, children, and staff. The essence of Highgate is captured in its motto:
“where the community spirit shines.”
Mission Statement
Highgate Early Learning Centre Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation, governed by a parent committee working collaboratively with all major stakeholders. We provide high quality early childhood education and care based on community values and assess against all relevant government standards.
For Children we will:

Invite and inspire curiosity, creativity, enthusiasm, imagination, and a love of learning

Create a relaxed and nurturing environment to laugh, have fun and learn through play

Encourage friendships to grow and develop naturally through play and exploration

Guide and support them to develop social and emotional tools and skills including mindfulness and resilience

Respect their right to make their own choices and decisions

Use emotion coaching strategies to support children’s social and emotional wellbeing

Teach them personal safety skills and strategies
As Educators and staff, we will:

Implement an integrated teaching and learning approach that builds on children’s interests and strengths

Work closely with families, educators and other professionals to achieve the best outcome for children

Nurture and care for ourselves and our wellbeing and engage in mindfulness practices

Drive continuous improvement through reflective practice

Provide children with opportunities to safely explore their community and environment

Make financially sound decisions to ensure future viability whist maintaining a not-for-profit status

Keep fees affordable without compromising the level of care and support to children and families

Maintain a safe environment and culture which values and supports children, families, and educators

Be collaborative leaders and ensure decisions are based on the best interests of children, families, and educators

Encourage & support innovation, continuous improvement and the development of new ideas

Encourage and support professional growth and development opportunities
